Here’s a snapshot of frequently asked questions.

Q: My house has a storage water heater tank that’s been giving me good service for over 10 years. Why should I change it?

A: Depending on area and conditions, storage heater tanks generally fail in 8 to 12 years. You should keep a watch as your water heater is approaching its end of life cycle.

Q: Many people talk about Tankless Water Heater installations these days. Is it worth the investment?

A: A typical gas-fired water heater tank wastes 40 to 50 percent of the fuel it burns. In contrast, you can save 27 to 50 percent of fuel costs with tankless water heaters.

Q: Is that all?

A: There’s more. Tankless water heater generates hot water only when you need it and for as long as you need it. So, there’s zero wastage.

Q: Do you repair tankless water heaters?

A: Tankless water heaters can be repaired and refurbished as most spares are available. Once fixed, they are as good as new.

Q: What infrastructure is required for gas fired or electric tankless water heaters?

A: In the case of gas or propane powered units it involves making leak-free water, adequate ventilation and gas connections. For electric units you are looking at upgrading the wiring and circuit-breaker panel. For safety and security, we always advise our customers to take professional help.

Q: Can tankless water heaters use hard water?

A: For hard water areas, we would definitely recommend installing a pre-filter system. Alternatively, you can sign up for an annual service contract that will include cleaning or changing water and air filters, checking the burner (for gas fired units) and chemical flushing every 500 hours to help avoid mineral buildup inside.

Q: In terms of product longevity, which is better – gas or electric?

Tankless electric units generally have shorter life spans and are expected to last between 7 to 10 years.

A: In our experience with water heaters we can endorse gas-burning tankless water heaters as being preferable as they can operate for 20 years or more. This means the working lifespan is two or three times longer than the old tank-type heaters.

Q: How to find and fix hidden leaks?

A: We have many years of experience dealing with external and internal leaks. The best clue is your water bill besides physical evidence like mold and mildew. We mostly use non-invasive tools to find the source of the problem
